These Kids are Cotton Candy Crushin’ it!
It’s a Home Run giving back to the Gulls Give Foundation!
Nothing short of a grand slam in Red Deer in May as Sully of the Sylvan Lake Gulls stepped up to the plate as Burger of the Month Guest Chef!
The Sylvan Lake Gulls mascot hit it out of the park with the โDugout Dogโ! It included an Alberta beef smash patty, Alberta beef hotdog, toasted potato roll bun, house dill pickle dijon mustard, smoked ketchup, caramelized onions, shredded iceberg lettuce, spicy cheese sauce and peppered bacon! $2 from every burger sold is going directly to the Gulls Give Foundation. The Sylvan Lake Gulls are part of the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL). Graham and Jennifer Schetzsle introduced the Gulls Give Foundation right alongside the team in 2019, with a promise to make a difference, and return generosity in positive and meaningful ways by engaging with organizations who deliver programs supporting local vulnerable populations.
Graham and Jennifer say the same game principals utilized on the ball field apply to building community โgreat communities and teams are built on the principals of teamwork. Our foundation was formed to create a community within a community, aiming to make a difference in vulnerable populations. Whether it big or small we aim to make a differenceโ.
Thanks to your support of our beloved Burger of the Month Program Sully helped us hand over $1288 to the Gulls Give Foundation at Fridayโs Gulls Game (Friday, June 10th). Thanks to the amazing support we see from our guestโs month after month, we have had the opportunity to give back over $105,000 to local charities over the past 64 months!
THANK-YOU!

Supporting Ponoka Elementary with Mini Egg Ice Cream Sandwiches!
We can confirm, people like mini eggs! And more importantly, supporting local schools!
Ponoka Elementary School is on the receiving end of funds from our most recent ice cream sandwich, the โMini Eggโ. Our School Ice Cream Sandwich Program sees our culinary teams at both of our restaurant locations dream up an ice cream sandwich with some punch every 3 months, and we select a local school to benefit from ice cream sandwich sales, kicking back $1 of every sandwich we sell in house to a program or project of the schoolโs choice.
From March to May the โMini Eggโ was served up at our Lacombe location. It included chocolate egg ice cream, salted chocolate and caramel cookies, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and crushed mini eggs! Ponoka Elementary School has dedicated funds raised to upgrade and refresh their recess equipment! School Principal Nathan McEntee says soccer balls, frisbees, footballs, basketballs and skipping ropes are on their purchase wish list.
Our team was thrilled to work alongside students at the school in April for an on-site ice cream sandwich sale! These elementary kids busted hump to help us serve up more than 375 ice cream treats, raising some additional funds for the school. A BIG thank-you to school staff and families who supported those efforts! Today, (June 6th) we were thrilled to hand over a cheque to Ponoka Elementary School for $2222 which included $1504 raised from the on-site sale (weโre happy to kick back FULL proceeds from that pre-order fundraiser)!
Our next Ice Cream Sandwich at our Lacombe location is the โLavender Lemonade Ice Cream Sandwichโ it includes lemonade ice cream with a lavender ripple sandwiched between two shortbread cookies, fresh whipped cream, and a lavender caramel drizzle on top! $1 from every ice cream sandwich sold will go to St. Gregory The Great Catholic School in Blackfalds to offer opportunities for students to attend summer programming and extra curricular activities.

Torie Goings loves kids, and has helped give back in a big way!
Bagels are EVERYTHING, itโs true!ย Especially when thereโs a burger nestled in-between and theyโre helping to raise funds for a great local cause.
Torie Goings served as our May Burger of the Month Guest Chef in Lacombe, helping us create the โBagel Burgerโ.ย It included a garlic butter grilled everything bagel, two Alberta beef smash patties each with a slice of provolone cheese, bacon mushroom ketchup, craft beer caramelized onions, over easy egg, sliced tomato, shredded iceberg lettuce picked with a cherry tomato!ย $2 from every burger sold is going directly to Torieโs cause of choice the Dragonfly Childrenโs Healing Centre.
The Centre provides a spectrum of services to children and youth from Red Deer and Central Alberta who are experiencing trauma from domestic violence, homelessness, and suicide.ย Using a collaborative approach, their goal is to give kids who have experienced potentially traumatizing events or patterns of events the opportunity to heal and develop healthy skills and behaviors.
Torie notes โdragonflies represent hope, change and new beginnings and the Healing Centre gives children hope and a chance to heal, providing them the opportunity to grow into happy and healthy adults.ย The positive ripple effect that is created in our communities by supporting our little ones and teaching them the coping skills to deal with trauma is really incredibleโ.
Thanks to your support of our beloved Burger of the Month Program Torie helped us deliver $874 to the Dragonfly Childrenโs Healing Centre today (Friday, June 3rd).ย Thanks to the amazing support we see from our guests for our Burger of the Month program month after month, we have had the opportunity to give back over $105,000 to local charities over the past 64 months!ย THANK-YOU!

To plant a seed is to believe in tomorrow.
โTo plant a seed is to believe in tomorrowโ
The future sure looks bright for students at Normandeau School who will soon be planting their own seeds in a new greenhouse! We were thrilled to join the โCome Grow With Usโ campaign serving up ice cream sandwiches to help with greenhouse fundraising efforts through our School Ice Cream Sandwich Program.
Every three months, the culinary teams at both of our restaurant locations create an out of this world ice cream sandwich and we select a local school to benefit from ice cream sandwich sales, kicking back $1 of every sandwich sold to a program or project of the schoolโs choice.
The โMonster Jamโ ice cream sandwich landed on our Red Deer menu from March through May. It included two monster cookies with Algonquin ice cream, green whipped cream and a Cadbury cream egg cracked over top! $1 from every ice cream sandwich sold is going towards a passive solar greenhouse, creating a living classroom for students to play in the dirt, develop practical life skills and new perspectives on food.
School Principal Lisa Spicer says construction will happen over the summer months with an unveil to students in the fall. She notes โThrough strong curriculum connections and the use of STEM activities in a living classroom, students will build knowledge and skills about growing food and nutrition.โ
Our team was thrilled to team up with students to help assemble and deliver ice cream sandwiches to the school population through a pop-up ice cream sandwich sale in April. High 5โs all around to the parents that chipped in the cash to order these sweet lunch treats, affording us the opportunity to raise some additional funds for the school!
Today (June 3rd) we handed over a cheque to Normandeau School for $1181 which included $768 raised from the school lunch order (weโre happy to kick back FULL lunch order proceeds)!
Our next Ice Cream Sandwich at our Red Deer location is the โCherry Explosion Jolly Rancher” in support of Jessie Duncan Elementary School in Penhold. It includes cherry explosion ice cream with Jolly Rancher pieces, between two monster cookies and topped with whipped cream and crushed Jolly Rancher candy. $1 from every ice cream sandwich sold will go towards the purchase of new gym equipment and library books!

Some words from Austin on the choice of his local charity :
“A few years back, my wife and I adopted a cat from a local animal shelter when we lived in Penticton and it changed our lives. We’ve always had pets in both our families, but “Lulu” was different, she was as big as a football and had a character, unlike any other cat we’d ever had. She would “Mao” instead of “Meowing”, walk on a leash, and go on road trips with us, she was a big part of our time in the Okanagan.
Sadly our time with Lulu was short but the whole experience of adopting a Cat instead of a Kitten stayed with us and that is why we want to support Saving Grace with the funds raised from BOTM.”
