Giving back to the Golden Circle resource center thanks to our Burger of the Month!

In the words of our July Burger of the Month Guest Chef “to honour and celebrate our older adults, they are our walking history”.

Amber Mack stepped up to the challenge of Guest Chef in Red Deer, with the Golden Circle at heart.  Amber provided the burger inspiration for “The Golden Mack”, which included two bison and beef smash patties, house made saskatoon berry jam, jalapeño jack cheese, peppered bacon, sambal peanut butter mousse, arugula, sunny side up fried egg, and an onion ring on a potato roll!  $2 from of every burger sold is going directly to the Golden Circle Senior Resource Centre.

Amber recently stepped into the role of Executive Director at the Golden Circle which has been a community pillar in Red Deer since 1977.  She notes the scope of services provided by the centre is large “It provides Outreach Services to older adults who need assistance with non-medical supportive services – whether it be with filling out AB Seniors’ Benefits forms to coordinating brokered workers for housekeeping and yard care to allow them to age in the place that’s right for them.  And on the other hand, there is the activity centre side where the centre provides a welcoming gathering space for older adults to come, socialize, play cards and games, quilt, play music, go to exercise programs, have coffee and important socialization opportunities, even purchase frozen homestyle meals or enjoy a meal at the centre”.  Burger of the Month funds will be used to support the Outreach Program as well as to enhance Activity Programming at the Golden Circle.

Thanks to your support of our beloved Burger of the Month Program Amber helped us hand over $1267 to the Golden Circle Senior Resource Centre today (Wednesday, August 3rd).  Thanks to the amazing support we see from our guest’s month after month, we have had the opportunity to give back over $110,000 to local charities over the past 66 months!  THANK-YOU!

The July Burger of the Month in Red Deer is “The Dirty Caesar Burger”, created in collaboration with local guest chef Rene Rondeau!  It has two Alberta Beef Smash patties, white cheddar, sliced genoa salami, house-made teriyaki BBQ sauce and a (dirty) Caesar aioli, with fresh arugula, sliced tomato, fresh sliced onion, garnished with a pickle spear on a garlic buttered brioche bun.  $2 from every Burger sold goes directly to Rene’s charity of choice the Kidney Foundation.
