Lacombe’s Burger of the Month with Cindel Beyerle

A flying spin is where you land when you have a local figure skater glide on up to the challenge of Guest Chef!

Cindel Bayerle was keen to give back to a local sports group which she calls “a second family”.  “Cindel’s Pizza Burger” landed on our Lacombe menu for the month of April, it included two house-Alberta beef smash patties, house made pizza sauce, fried pepperoni, fried pickles, and a mozzarella cheese crisp on a brioche bun with a pickle spear! $2 from every burger sold is going directly to the Lacombe Skating Club.

Cindel joined the Lacombe Skating Club in 2014 and has been serving as a Program Assistant for CanSkate where she supports young skaters. “The overwhelming support from both my fellow skaters, and my coaches has been amazing. Even on a bad day, I get on the ice, and it all disappears because I have all the support and mentorship I need. The relationships I have made have helped mould me into a strong supporter for younger skaters and it allows me to give back the same support I have received.  I can’t wait to do it again next season!”

The Lacombe Skating Club works hard to keep registration costs as low as possible to ensure skating continues to thrive in our community. Club President Rebecca Bayerle says they use donations like this one to keep those costs low, and they also have one other specific need they will be putting the burger proceeds towards “we plan to use funds to help recertification of our jump assist harness that our coaches use on our higher-level STAR skaters.”

Thanks to your support of our beloved Burger of the Month Program Cindel helped us deliver $766 to Lacombe Skating Club yesterday (Thursday, May 4th). Thanks to the amazing support we see from our guests for our Burger of the Month program month after month, we have had the opportunity to give back over $130,000 to local charities over the past 75 months! THANK-YOU!

We’re so happy to help boost KidSports in the Lacombe area!

Lasting memories and friendships, the value of teamwork and active healthy lifestyles all inspired the giving for our March Burger of the Month Guest Chef in Lacombe.
Local Junior High School Teacher and Minor Hockey Executive Amy Richter provided the creative inspiration for the “Spring Chicken” burger which included two house-marinated chicken thighs, peppered bacon, dill ranch, spinach & strawberry medley, with mayo on a garlic buttered brioche bun with a pickle skewer! $2 from every burger sold is going directly to Amy’s local organization of choice – KidSport Lacombe County!
Amy grew up in a fun, active household surrounded by family, but financially, organized sports were out of the question. When Amy and her sister were in Grade 6 and 8 they had the opportunity to play softball, where they met new friends, and teammates, and made some lasting friendships. As an adult and having children of her own, Amy notes “living an active lifestyle is so important to me and my health and my relationship with my boys. I really think getting involved in sports as a kid and developing healthy habits is essential to, well, everything. Not just being healthy but learning how to be a teammate and cooperate and encourage each other. There shouldn’t be barriers for children to experience that. So, supporting KidSport-Lacombe is very important to me.”
KidSport Lacombe County is a local, completely volunteer-run chapter that supports families in the City of Lacombe, Lacombe County, Blackfalds, Bentley, Eckville, Clive, and Alix. Their mission is to remove the financial barriers that prevent youth from playing organized sport by providing financial assistance to cover registration fees for kids up to the age of 18, and strategically partnering with like-minded charities that provide access to equipment for this same demographic.
The local chapter raises funds for kids in our community, where every dollar raised stays in the community. KidSport Lacombe County started funding kids in March 2022 and in less than a year they have already funded 100 kids in the Lacombe Country region!

Thanks to YOUR support of our beloved Burger of the Month Program, Amy helped us deliver $1002 to KidSport Lacombe County yesterday (Tuesday, April 4th).
Because of the incredible support for our Burger of the Month program month after month, we have had the opportunity to give back over $125,000 to local charities over the past 74 months! THANK-YOU!

This never gets old!

This truly never gets old!  Connecting with local schools, engaging with kids and having a LOT of fun along the way to help raise funds for school needs.

Alix-MAC School is on the receiving end of funds from our most recent ice cream sandwich at our Lacombe location, the “Black Forest”.  It included two chocolate covered house-baked shortbread cookies, dark cherry ice cream, whipped cream, cherry coulis, and chocolate shavings.  $1 from every ice cream sandwich sold is going towards school technology!

Our School Ice Cream Sandwich Program sees our culinary teams at both of our restaurant locations dream up an ice cream sandwich with some punch every 3 months, we select a local school to benefit from ice cream sandwich sales, kicking back $1 of every sandwich we sell in house to a program or project of the school’s choice.

Our team was thrilled to work alongside students at the school in December for an on-site ice cream sandwich sale!  Students held each other to task and their work ethic coupled with their positive attitude helped us serve up more than 100 ice cream treats, raising some additional funds for the school.  A BIG thank-you to school staff and families who supported those efforts!

Today, (March 9th) we were thrilled to hand over a cheque to Alix-MAC School for $675 which included $444 raised from the on-site sale (we’re happy to kick back FULL proceeds from that pre-order fundraiser)!  School Principal Adrian Paolinelli says they are using the funds to help purchase a new sound system for their gym.

Our current Ice Cream Sandwich at our Lacombe location is the “Mini Egg Ice Cream Sandwich”.  It includes chocolate egg ice cream, salted chocolate and caramel cookies, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and crushed mini eggs!  $1 from every ice cream sandwich sold will go directly to Rimbey Elementary School, funds earmarked for playground equipment.

Forever in our Hearts!

“Forever in our hearts” – Chantele Broderson

The loss of a close family friend led to a burger in his honour and giving back to a local community service club he served with.

Chantele Broderson stepped up as our February Burger of the Month Guest Chef in Lacombe.  She provided the creative juices for the “Pop it Like It’s Hot” burger which included a crispy chicken breast topped with smoked cheddar, peppered bacon & white cheddar popcorn on a brioche bun with pickles, iceberg lettuce and garlic aioli, garnished with crumbled white popcorn‼️ $2 from every burger sold is going directly to Chantele’s local organization of choice the Lacombe Kinsmen Club in memory of Tye Friesen.

Chantele enjoyed a long friendship with Tye “Growing up I called him Uncle Tye, my first memories are of him attending birthday parties for my brother and I. When we moved to Lacombe Tye moved as well shortly after to come work with my dad. After that Tye took on a new role in my life as my boss. We worked together for many years, and I will cherish the time that we spent together even if I didn’t find the job all that exciting! For the last few years, Tye was a friend, he was always someone to lean on. He built a great community around himself in Lacombe and will be missed by many but forever in our hearts!”

The Lacombe Kinsmen Club meant a lot to Tye. He joined the Kinsmen in 2015 and was a very dedicated member, always the first to volunteer when help was needed.  He held almost every position on the executive over the years.

Thanks to your support of our beloved Burger of the Month Program Chantele helped us deliver $1222 to the Lacombe Kinsmen Club last night (Friday, March 3rd).  Thanks to the amazing support we see from our guests for our Burger of the Month program month after month, we have had the opportunity to give back over $125,000 to local charities over the past 73 months!  THANK-YOU!

Our January Burger of the Month raising funds for Rimbey Long Term Care

“The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind”.

There was plenty of love behind our January Burger of the Month in Lacombe, created in loving memory of Grandma (Shirley) Hancik.

Local Guest Chef Sam Hancik was keen to support the staff at Rimbey Long-Term Care for the love and care they provided to his Grandma.  Sam’s “Pickle Chicken Teriyaki” Burger landed on our Lacombe menu for the month of January in her honour.  It included “two grilled teriyaki glazed chicken thighs, tempura fried dill pickle, apple slaw and sesame aioli with a tomato skewer on a buttered brioche bun!  $2 from every burger sold is going directly to Rimbey Long-Term Care.

Ice cream sandwiches supporting kids?? HECKYEAH!

You had me at blue monster cookie dough ice cream!  Seriously!  And eating ice cream to support playground replacement at a local school, we’re ALL in!
