2022 Buffalo Meadows is a dark lager that was cool-fermented in stainless steel with Alberta blossom honey and bee pollen from Meadows-Sweet Apiaries.

It was was then aged for 9 months in fresh Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels. The techniques and ingredients give this beer dark fruit notes, and complex salinity, with a warming finish.

Occasionally a beer names itself, and this was the case with Smooth Operator. As a big, brown ale aged in Port barrels for 24 months, we were a little surprised how easy-drinking it was, even though it clocks in at 8.7% ABV.
ย 
The very first suggested name, Smooth Operator, was unanimously approved. This recipe uses a wide range of dark malts which play nicely off the red fruit and tannin from the Port barrels. The final beer is a delightful amalgam of red wine, chocolate, and cola notes with a clean, dry finish.

Let us transport you back to the rural forests of 19th century Bavaria. The birds are chirping, and you are thirsty for a beer. The rich folks in urban centres are partying with Hefeweizens, but you are poor and wheat is hard to come by in these partsโ€ฆ Okay, thatโ€™s pretty much the whole story.

A Dampfbier is a warmly fermented beer brewed entirely with malted barley and what would typically be a Hefe yeast. Weโ€™re almost always happy to take a swing at esoteric beer styles, and this is definitely one of those! Tasty banana and clove notes make this a nice quaffable and interesting 5%er.
