Results from our October Burger of the Month in Lacombe!

Our October Burger of the Month Guest Chef in Lacombe is passionate about supporting kids and is keen to do her part to ensure no young people go without warm winter gear!  We’re happy to help her turn over funds early to help make that happen for families in Blackfalds.

Bailee Wigmore helped us create “Second Breakfast”.  It includes a Berkshire pork patty, tater tots, sunny fried egg, smashed avocado, smoked maple sambal aioli, beefsteak tomato and shredded iceberg lettuce on a toasted everything bagel!  $2 from every Burger sold goes directly to Bailee’s local charity of choice, the Blackfalds FCSS (Family & Community Support Services) Winter Wear Program.

Bailee was raised in Blackfalds, has her finger on the pulse of the community and understands the needs, having served in the non-profit sector and most recently in a local school.  She points to our Alberta winters and the work of FCSS “having a warm winter coat is essential, I chose the Coats for Kids program as I feel it is an amazing initiative supporting many families in Blackfalds. The program aims to provide families in need with the opportunity for their children to choose their own winter coat at Mountain Warehouse free of cost to them.”

As a result of donations like this one and others from the community, Jan Pocock with Blackfalds FCSS says 136 local children and youth will receive a well-fitting, age-appropriate coat to proudly wear this winter. “When the community works together, we can ensure that all children are warm and valued.   If you are a Blackfalds resident and would like more information on this program, please call the Blackfalds FCSS office at 403-600-9066.”

To ensure those families and more have the essential winter gear they need for this winter season we were happy to help Bailee turn over Burger of the Month proceeds in advance.

Thanks to your support of our beloved Burger of the Month Program Bailee helped us deliver $1500 to Blackfalds FCSS on October 5th.  Thanks to the amazing support we see from our guests for our Burger of the Month program month after month, we have had the opportunity to give back over $110,000 to local charities over the past 69 months!  THANK-YOU!

Some words from Randy :
“We chose Saving Grace as the charity to raise money for because we are big animal lovers. When we lost our beloved Bailey last summer, we realized how lucky we were to have had him for almost 15 years and what a great life he had with us. With that, we were also reminded of all the animals out there who unfortunately don’t have that safe home right from the start or the access to the medical care needed. We have so much respect for everything that this organization endures and strongly believe that Saving Grace is and continues to help make a big difference in our community”

Results from our September Burger of the Month in Lacombe, bring big smiles to many!

Giving hope to those who think they are alone in this world is the ultimate form of kindness and seeing a 12-year-old behind that kindness is incredible.

Our Lacombe Guest Chef for September was 12-year-old Londyn Hudson who helped us create “The Tower of Londyn”.  It included two Alberta beef smash patties, green mayotchup, tempura mozzarella sticks, beer battered onion ring, blueberry bbq sauce, bacon jam, shredded iceberg lettuce, shaved onion and sliced beefsteak tomato on a sesame kaiser roll with a cherry tomato skewer.  $2 of every burger sold is going directly to Londyn’s local charity of choice, The Broom Tree Foundation.

The Broom Tree Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving women and their families in central Alberta.  The Foundation’s mandate is to maintain an enriched environment focused solely on women in need of support and compassion, empowering them to overcome a variety of obstacles and challenges to achieve their highest potential.

Londyn, knowing her mom faced obstacles in the past without support, wanted to pay it forward to other women in need of help “we need places where women can feel safe.  A place where they can trust others.  A place they can lean on in times of need without judgement.  The Broom Tree is a safe landing place for those that need it”.

Thanks to your support of our beloved Burger of the Month Program Londyn helped us deliver $1362 to The Broom Tree Foundation today (Wednesday, October 5th).  Thanks to the amazing support we see from our guests for our Burger of the Month program month after month, we have had the opportunity to give back over $110,000 to local charities over the past 68 months!  THANK-YOU!

“Pawsitively” awesome day giving back to Old MacDonald Kennels!

When you meet young people like 11-year-old Azaylia Dietz, you know we’re in great hands!  This young Guest Chef has a BIG heart and a love of animals.  She was excited to help create a burger in hopes of helping all pets find loving homes.

Azaylia served as September Guest Chef at our Red Deer location, providing the creative juices for the “Chicken Shawarma” Burger.  It included a garlic buttered brioche bun, marinated chicken thigh, house-made tzatziki, red onion, olives, diced jalapeno, tomato slice, green peppers, feta cheese, lettuce, garnished with a double olive skewer!  $2 of every burger sold went directly to Azaylia’s charity of choice – Old MacDonald Kennels & Animal Services!

Old MacDonald Kennels is a safe place for stray and unwanted dogs.  They created a fun and safe environment for pet boarding dogs, and they use funds generated from boarding clients to help them operate a NO Kill Animal Shelter.  The shelter uses donations in a variety of ways, often towards veterinary expenses as many animals arrive requiring immediate veterinary attention.

Azaylia chose to dedicate her Burger of the Month funds to Old MacDonald Kennels after experiencing pet adoption firsthand “I chose OMK as my charity because we adopted one of our Great Danes from there 2 years ago. She was very scared of all people including us, but now she loves us & has turned into such an amazing dog! Their kennel is full of animals that need adopting & I want every pet to get the chance to have a loving family”.

Thanks to your support of our beloved Burger of the Month Program Azaylia helped us hand over $1232 to Old MacDonald Kennels today (Saturday, October 1st).  Thanks to the amazing support we see from our guest’s month after month, we have had the opportunity to give back over $110,000 to local charities over the past 68 months!  THANK-YOU!

Giving back to Jessie Duncan Elementary School!

“Reading is dreaming with open eyes”.

We’re thrilled to help Jessie Duncan Elementary School in Penhold continue to give opportunities for kids to read and dream, as well as keep them moving!  Jessie Duncan is the latest school on the receiving end of funds from our School Ice Cream Sandwich Program at our Red Deer location.

Every three months, the culinary teams at both of our restaurant locations create an out of this world ice cream sandwich and we select a local school to benefit from ice cream sandwich sales, kicking back $1 of every sandwich sold to a program or project of the school’s choice.

The “Cherry Explosion Jolly Rancher” ice cream sandwich landed on our Red Deer menu from June through August.  It included cherry explosion ice cream with Jolly Rancher pieces, between two monster cookies and topped with whipped cream and crushed Jolly Rancher candy. $1 from every ice cream sandwich sold will go towards the purchase of new gym equipment and library books at Jessie Duncan!

Our team was thrilled to team up with students to help assemble and deliver ice cream sandwiches to the school population through a pop-up ice cream sandwich sale in June.  High 5’s all around to the parents that chipped in the cash to order these sweet lunch treats, affording us the opportunity to raise some additional funds for the school!

Today (September 19th) we handed over a cheque to Jessie Duncan Elementary for $956 which included $732 raised from the school lunch order (we’re happy to kick back FULL lunch order proceeds)!

Our next Ice Cream Sandwich at our Red Deer location is the “Chocolate Chip Waffle” Ice Cream Sandwich in support of Ecole Oriole Park School in Red Deer.  It includes house-made chocolate chip waffles, chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream and whipped cream topped with chocolate sauce. $1 from every ice cream sandwich sold will go towards a new outdoor garden at the school!

Lavender lemonade in the form of an ice cream sandwich?! Oh HECKYEAH!

Lavender lemonade in the form of an ice cream sandwich?! Oh HECKYEAH!  It was the perfect way to end the school year and to entice families to continue to support a local school all summer long.

St. Gregory the Great Catholic School in Blackfalds is on the receiving end of funds from our most recent ice cream sandwich.  Our School Ice Cream Sandwich Program sees our culinary teams at both of our restaurant locations dream up an ice cream sandwich with some punch every 3 months, and we select a local school to benefit from ice cream sandwich sales, kicking back $1 of every sandwich we sell in house to a program or project of the school’s choice.

From June to August the “Lavender Lemonade” ice cream sandwich was served up at our Lacombe location.  It included lemonade ice cream with a lavender ripple sandwiched between two shortbread cookies, fresh whipped cream, and a lavender caramel drizzle on top!  St. Gregory has dedicated funds raised to offer opportunities for students to attend summer programming and extra curricular activities.

Our team was THRILLED to work alongside students at the school in June for an on-site ice cream sandwich sale!  A group of middle school students held each other to task and their work ethic coupled with their positive attitude helped us serve up more than 500 ice cream treats, raising some additional funds for the school.  A BIG thank-you to school staff and families who supported those efforts!  Today, (September 13th) we were excited to hand over a cheque to St. Gregory the Great for $2353 which included $2056 raised from the on-site sale (we’re happy to kick back FULL proceeds from that pre-order fundraiser)!

Our next Ice Cream Sandwich at our Lacombe location is the “Rainbow Monster” ice cream sandwich” it includes two fresh baked monster cookies with blue monster cookie dough ice cream, rainbow sprinkles, and candy glitter! $1 from every ice cream sandwich sold will go to Lacombe Christian School to update their ageing west campus playground.
