We’re not quite ready.

This is us.

Our dining room is still not open to the public yet, and trust us – it’s really hard.

So many phone calls, messages, and people we talk to at the front want our dining room to be open. We’d LOVE nothing more than to just make that happen.

Still working hard behind the scenes to prepare for that day. Investing a lot of time and energy into all the proper protocols are in place and we do things the right way. While also taking the time to re-invest in our restaurant and systems, to help ensure we’ll be here for years to come.

Humbly put, we also take care of a lot of guests from around Alberta, and not just Lacombe. So we want to make sure that we don’t add to the problem at hand for our community.

Again, THANK YOU to everyone for your patience and empathy in the matter. Our staff also feels safe and secure, and we’re able to support them which is priority. Thanks to you!

So we are still are rocking out Curbside Pick-up and Delivery, and look forward to seeing you – even if it’s from a distance!

Can’t wait for brighter days!

Just incredible.

In a month where everyone’s worlds were flipped outside down, support for our beloved Burger of the Month Program was AMAZING, affirming we truly have the BEST guest’s hands down!

Local guest chef Brenda Sargeant helped provide the creative juices for the “Date Night” burger!

$2 from every burger sold in March went directly to Brenda’s charity of choice the Women’s Program at Turning Point.

Now more than ever we need to continue to support those programs that support the at risk and vulnerable in our community, and programs like the Women’s Program which help women facing significant struggles set and achieve their goals. We’re better together!

Brenda was thrilled to turn over a cheque for $880 today, dollars Turning Point will use directly to support very vulnerable women and often their children in our community.

Thanks to the incredible community support we see for our Burger of the Month program month after month, we’ve had the opportunity to give back over $60,000 to local charities over the past 38 months!

THANK-YOU!

You did it again! February’s Burger of the Month raises $1160

Does it get much better than not one but TWO guest chef’s and TWO Burgers?!  It was a first for our beloved Burger of the Month Program and it was a hit!

Local guest chef’s Alvin and Helen Peck provided the creative inspiration behind “Two of a Kind”, which included two sliders.  Slider one was topped with a bacon infused beef patty, jack cheese, caramelized onion, basil aioli, greens, tomato and a pickle, while slider two included jerk chicken with cumin aioli, sesame slaw, lettuce and sweet potato chips on naan bread!  $2 from every burger sold in February went directly to the Peck’s charity of choice Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lacombe and District (BBBSLD).

The Peck’s were keen to support youth in our community and they couldn’t think of an organization that does better work with local young people than BBBS.  Alvin Peck points to the impact the programs offered make on kids “The young people are our future and if they have early exposure to community and caring hopefully, they will share that with others as they go through life”.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lacombe and District is currently working with 162 youth through their various mentoring programs like In School Mentoring, Community Based Mentoring, Tutoring Tuesday, Kids and Kops, Go Girls and Game On.  These programs push youth to reach their full potential and help them avoid many risk-taking behaviours; with kids matched with a volunteer staying in school longer, seeing better grades, being more productive, as a result, they are less likely to offend.

The Peck’s were thrilled to turn over a cheque for $1,160 today, dollars BBBSLD will use directly for mentoring programs.  Every $1 invested in mentoring returns $23 in social return to society, with mentored youth seeing long term positive results in life, in community and at work.  BBBSLD recently celebrated two 10-year matches which is a testament to the success of their programs and how they create a long-term impact.

We’re blessed with the BEST guests who get behind our Burger of the Month program month after month, allowing us the opportunity to give back over $60,000 to local charities over the past 37 months!  THANK-YOU!

The March Burger of the Month is the “Date Night”.  It includes grilled chicken, date and apple jam, melted brie, apple slices, cucumber slices, spinach and garlic parmesan aioli on a brioche bun!  It was created in collaboration with local Guest Chef Brenda Sargeant with $2 from every burger sold going directly to her charity of choice Turning Point Society’s Women’s Program

Another Pop-Up of Ice Cream Sandwich goodness!

There is nothing better than seeing kids jump in, take to task and LOVE every minute of it at our Ice Cream Sandwich Pop-up Sales! Every 3 months we’re at a new school as part of our new Ice Cream Sandwich Program, our latest stop, stop number 3 landed us at Terrace Ridge in Lacombe!

Under the program we kick back full proceeds from the pop-up sale ($4/sandwich) as well as $1 from every ice cream sandwich sold in the restaurant over the 3-month period to the school.

Grade 6 students at Terrace Ridge were ALL IN, helping our team scoop up and serve 173 ice cream sandwiches! Our latest creation is a play on black forest cake; 2 maraschino cherry cookies with Dutch chocolate ice cream and sprinkles!

Terrace Ridge will be using the proceeds from the ice cream sandwich sales to help replace and supplement Physical Education Supplies and Resources. Schools do receive funding for basic gym supplies like dodge balls, volleyballs, basketballs, nets, hula hoops, bean bags, badminton rackets and more but maintaining those items each year is costly. The school needs to ensure they always have enough equipment for 30-50 students to participate at a time and with over 400 students at the school that equipment is well used! School Principal Deborah Van Delden says they are also eager to expose students to as many new and exciting opportunities as possible and they currently have a wish list of Physical Education supplies they would LOVE to purchase. That list includes indoor floor curling, don’t walk in the hallway decals, Gaga Ball, and 9 square in the air.

A BIG thank-you to the amazing group of Grade 6 students who worked alongside our team, and to all parents who helped their kids purchase an ice cream sandwich treat at school!

Helping to Feed Kids – One Ice Cream Sandwich at a Time!

We are having SO MUCH FUN popping up at local schools and giving back through our new Ice Cream Sandwich Program!  Today it was time to turn over the funds raised from our latest ice cream sandwich creation and stop number two at Ècole James S. McCormick School in Lacombe.

Back in mid-December a group of Grade 3 JS student leaders helped us scoop up roughly 150 ice cream sandwiches (two in-house baked root beer float cookies and salted caramel ice-cream) to serve to their peers, all in support of the school’s new breakfast program.  We’re thrilled to be kicking back the entire proceeds of that pop-up sale, as well as $1 from every ice cream sandwich sold in the restaurant between December and February.

Drum roll please……that same group of Grade 3 students were on hand today to receive a cheque for $947!

This is the first year JS McCormick has had a formal breakfast program up and running.  It started off feeding 8-10 kids every school morning and has quickly grown to see over 60 children popping in to curb hunger pains, getting them ready to learn.  Assistant Principal Craig Fullarton says “many students come to school hungry simply because their morning was too busy to eat. We have students who ride the bus for an hour so although they might have eaten before they left, they may still arrive to school hungry. Our program targets anyone who needs something in their belly because realistically, if they are hungry, learning is not going to be a priority for them that day”.

We all know food is expensive and the program is relying heavily on donations to purchase the cereal, yogurt, fruit, bread, butter and jam, and cheese, currently on offer every morning.

A BIG thank-you to the amazing group of Grade 3 students who worked alongside our team, to all parents who helped their kids purchase an ice cream sandwich treat at school and to everyone who made the trip into the restaurant to help support this program.

We’re on the road again one week from today, this time scooping at Terrace Ridge School, see you there!
